Jepara (12/10), In an effort to provide education to coastal communities about the use of environmentally friendly energy sources, the Department of Capture Fisheries conducted an environmental-friendly living campaign for coastal communities in Karimunjawa. The Department of Capture Fisheries encourages the use of solar energy. So far, the use of solar energy has not been popular. Therefore, the installation of solar-powered street lights is expected to raise awareness and concern among the community about environmentally friendly living in Karimunjawa.

To enhance public knowledge regarding the use of solar energy, the Community Service Team of the Department of Capture Fisheries, Universitas Diponegoro, conducted an activity titled “Environmentally Friendly Energy Lamp Technology for Karimunjawa.” The team consists of Dr. Ir. Bambang Argo W, M.Si as the team leader, Prof. Dr. Dian Wijayanto, S.Pi, MSE, Dr. Dian Ayunita N. N. D., S.Pi., M.Si, and Bogi Budi Jayanto, S.Pi, M.Si.

The activity location is in the Karimunjawa Islands, Jepara Regency, Central Java. The activity begins with a survey, followed by the dissemination of information, education, and the installation of educational materials on the importance of using environmentally friendly energy for the future. This community service program also supports the achievement of SDGs (sustainable development goals), especially goals 7 (affordable and clean energy) and 14 (climate action). The enthusiasm of the Karimunjawa community in participating in this activity is very high. The Karimunjawa community hopes that activities like this can continue to run well.
